American Synthetics manufactures specialty formulated Reactive Color Pigments color keyed for marble and granite fabrication. A select blend of numerous pigments is mechanically ground into the PART B epoxy resins.

This type of color pigment manufacturing results in chemically REACTIVE color concentrates. Therefore, when added to any epoxy adhesive they are totally compatible and in no way diminish or compromise the adhesive glue line. Often only a small amount of any color is needed by the fabricator to obtain the desired color effect. These colors can be co blended and modified to suit your particular project.

The Reactive Pigments have been specifically created for epoxy coloring
adhesives. However, most polyester glues that are used in the marble and
granite industries can be successfully colored with these Reactive Pigments.

MIX AND MATCH COLORS
It is possible to mix and match pigments to obtain an ideal color for your fabrication applications. American Synthetics offers a series of primary and secondary colors that have been formulated especially for the majority of the types of stone and granites that are available. The standard colors are the most popular and they comfortably match the stone colors most commonly used.

STANDARD COLORS include:

• Ultra White
• Buff Crema
• Dark Brown
• Royal Blue
• Jet Black
• Mustard Yellow
• Brick Red
• Dark Green

CUSTOM COLORS include:

Raw Umber
Cement Gray
Rust Orange
Raw Sienna
Mahogany Brown
Maroon Red

THE CUSTOM COLOR KIT
American Synthetics has now introduced a convenient color kit combination package. The Custom Color Kit offers subtle color variations that cannot be obtained with the basic Standard Color Kit.

THE REACTIVE COLOR KIT
This is a combination of both Standard and Custom color pigments. This kit also contains a combination of various bottle volume sizes. These bottle sizes vary from 6.25 Oz. to the smaller 2 Oz. size. The larger bottles contain the more frequently used colors. The smaller bottles are the less frequently needed colors. The kit contains a total amount of 44.50 Oz. and it  provides an ideal color and size pallet for marble and granite fabrication use.

Alternatively, along with the Reactive Color Kit, other individual colors can be made from the Standard Color or the Custom Color selections, and all colors are intermixable. Reactive Colors are available in three sizes, 8 Oz., 6.25 Oz., and 2 Oz. containers.

Larger quantities of color concentrates are available upon request.

ADHESION GAIN vs. ADHESION LOSS
The Reactive Color pigments are chemically designed to react with the two part mixed STONE-WELD epoxy blend. The addition of color pigments will not diminish adhesion so long as the total measurement of Part A that includes the pigment addition, equals a final two to one mix by volume. American Synthetics provides a better product because common ingredients such as propylene Glycol, water, solvents, or acrylic polymers are not used in their pigments because they are either partially reactive or even worse, non-reactive. These wrong ingredients will compromise the final epoxy glue line or bond. Expect reduced adhesive strength, a glue line that may soften easily under frictional grinding heat.

EPOXY GLUES
American Synthetics is unable to test the Reactive Colors with all available epoxy glues on the market. Many tests have been made on a large variety of epoxy glues and we are confident that the Reactive Colors will perform more adequately.

POLYESTER GLUES
The Reactive Colors were not initially developed for the polyester glue products, though they are being used successfully with polyester glues to-day. Because there are so many brands of polyester available, it is recommended that a test be made initially, prior to using the color pigments on your first fabrication application.

DID YOU KNOW?
Opaque pigment colors have the natural ability to prevent the harmful effects of sunlight deterioration.  When a fabricator purposely uses a greater than normal amount of pigment in his epoxy blend, it
automatically builds a stronger UV (Ultra Violet) protection factor against sunlight deterioration. If a stone lamination is assembled without using pigments and it is subjected to direct out door sunlight it will be more susceptible to sun damage. Alternatively, fabrication jobs, such as barbeque tops located outdoors should be assembled using a very high content of pigments, perhaps 10 -15 % by volume instead of the normal 5% loading.

TIPS ON MIXING EPOXY PRODUCTSSeveral concepts apply to all 2 part adhesives, be they epoxy, acrylic or
polyester glues. You must always do the following:

Step 1 . Measure out proper volumes of both part A & B.

Step 2.
Mix together very thoroughly, perhaps 3 – 4 minutes using a flat sided wooden stick

Step 3.
Scrape the sides and bottom of the mixing container to guarantee that all contents are completely blended.

Step 4.
Apply mixed glue to a pre-cleaned and DRY surface.

Step 5.
Allow adequate time for hardening or curing.

Stone-Weld Laminating Epoxy is a 2:1 by volume mixing ratio. (If Stone-Weld is measured by weight instead of by volume, then the correct gram weights are 100 grams PART A to 44grams PART B)

If color pigments are needed for the fabricating job, then first add your
selected colors to the Compound, Part A side only. Once the desired color is obtained with a new volume, then add 50% of that volume with Part B Hardener. Now mix thoroughly as mentioned in note 3.
